That's My Girl - A personal photography project

Having been bullied by girls throughout my childhood, and now as a mother of a 10 year old daughter with an ever-increasing interest in what people think of her, I care passionately about the emotional and mental health of women and girls.

I want girls and women, my daughter included, to see that being themselves is the most important thing they can do. That we’re not here to fit in, and that believing in yourself and following what lights you up is what will lead to a happier, more fulfilling life.

Girls don’t need to be told what to do, they need to be inspired into action, to see their mothers, sisters, aunts, grandma’s following their own hearts. Whether it’s how we feel and talk about our own bodies, or how we follow our dreams, we as mothers, entrepreneurs and role models are here to lead the way.

In THAT’S MY GIRL, I seek to show girls (and women!) being themselves, alive with a passion and purpose for whatever it is they love in life, a ‘thing’ or each other, and being brave enough to follow it wholeheartedly.

Maybe you’re the sister or mother of a girl with a passion, maybe you’re part of a team of girls or women passionately following your hearts, or maybe a mother AND daughter with a shared dream, if so I’d be really keen to hear your story and potentially capture it in pictures so please email me at karen@withpassionandpurpose.co.uk

Don't be like the rest of them darling

A poem for our daughters

Don't be like the rest of them darling

You have super powers they can only dream of

Don't be like the rest of them darling

They just don’t shine like you

Don't be like the rest of them darling

Their hearts are two sizes smaller

Don't be like the rest of them darling

Their souls don’t fill an ocean like yours

Don't be like the rest of them darling

They are strong, but you are stronger

They are bright, but you are brighter

Dream big, live limitlessly but don’t be like the rest of them darling

Their hands don’t fit in mine like yours do
